September 2011, I was wearing a pair of ripped jeans, black converse, and a lace top I hated but my Mother loved. We were standing outside of an agency in St. Louis. My mom struggling to work the key pad. "Here let me help you." We hear as a petite woman with short blonde hair walks up the stairs. She approaches the door and opens it, "This isn't LA." We laugh and walk inside with her. As it turns out, that was Susan Nickels... my Manager of almost four years now.
I am writing about her because I am thankful that I found such a hardworking, caring, open, and beautiful manager. Someone who is always looking out for me, and helping me get the best, and most experience I can. Someone who has me redo video auditions multiple times, will call me before auditions to go over the character, and will calm me down before I walk into a big audition, right after getting rear ended. Someone who had me take the biggest risk and move out at 18 2,000 miles away from home, so that I could chase my dream and find myself in this City.
I am thankful to have a manager that pushes me as much as my Mother does, and can see something in me I struggle to see on most days.
